Last weekend was another good one. We went to the Cinco de Mayo thing, but our friend's band did not play because the weather was supposed to get bad. It did rain, but we did manage to get the grass mowed Saturday first thank goodness. We got up Saturday morning and went to the Shoney's breakfast bar, all except for Tyler who wanted to keep sleeping. A friend of ours called that afternoon to tell me about a big sale at one of the outlet mall stores, so we all headed out to the outlet mall. Rusty found a book called "Quitting Smoking for Dummies" and I found one called "Gardening for Dummies". I guess we'll see if the books do any good. Sunday I went with Rusty to work the machines at the casino, and we sneaked in a breakfast bar from the Isle. Rusty hardly knows what to do with time on his hands now. Sunday afternoon he started out just changing the oil in his car. Then he realized he had a nail in a tire, so he fixed the nail problem and decided to rotate his tires while he was at it. He had a good helper, named Tanner. I told him my tires needed rotating too, so he went and rotated mine also. Then he made Tyler get up and wash and vaccuum his car. I asked Tyler to pose for a picture - this is what I got. Guess that'll teach me to be more specific when I ask him to pose!
This week at school has been the week I have dreaded ALL YEAR LONG. I worried myself to death over it all weekend. I mean I have DREADED IT!!! This is the week that I had to take the entire 6th grade on stage every single morning to rehearse a program. Then Monday morning comes, and our first rehearsal was terrific. They were nice to me! They were pleasant, positive, and a joy to deal with. I would have never believed it. So even though the week ended up being just as much work as I expected, it turned out to be work that I did not mind doing. I like it when someone besides me is enjoying what we are doing.
Wednesday I had a conference with Tyler's science teacher again. I was concerned he was doing so badly in science that he might actually fail it. She said it's not impossible for him to pass. If he does well on the 9 weeks test he should pass no problem. I was worried he would fail it and have to go to summer school, or that Rusty would not let me send him to summer school and he'd have to be in 8th grade again. So I guess I just have to force him to study science every night for the rest of the year - which, by the way, is only 2 more weeks woohoo!!!!!!!!!
Thursday I took half a day off for Dr.'s appt. and Tanner's eye doctor appt. And I flat needed the break from school for that little bit also. As it turns out, Tanner is near-sighted just like Rusty and Tyler. We got glasses for him, but I'm not fooling with contacts for him just yet. He was surprised at how well he can see now with glasses.
Now that Friday is here I'm relieved! End of a long week! But I can definately rest with peace of mind this weekend as I have two "Navy Seals" guarding my home......
