We reluctantly tried a new restaurant last weekend - Billy's Italian Restaurant. We were glad we did though, it was great. We also purchased the grill I spoke of. Rusty says it's not a grill, it's a GRRRRIIIILL! We cooked out last Saturday even though there was a huge storm all day long. We cooked out under the garage hehehe. During the storm, the tree that has been kinda dangling over our fence since Katrina came on down. Yippee.
Also last Saturday I had to take Tyler for his physical he needs for playing football next year. We were supposed to go at 8 am. The rain made it hard to get up, so we didn't get there until 9:15 - and we ended up in line with ALL of the Warren Central (the local rival school) athletes grades 8-12. At one point, the kid that he had the fight with on the football field last fall came near where we were, and he and Tyler did exchange glares for a few minutes there - I crossed my fingers that that's all they would do, and it was. (Whew!) About 30 minutes into our hour long wait, some kid about 5 people ahead of us in line started letting all his friends skip. About a dozen of them, one by one. I was FUMING. I went and got one of their coaches and pointed out every kid that had skipped. He sent them all to the back of the line, including the one that was letting them skip. Tyler said, "Mom! I've never seen you go off like that! You know they're gonna be waiting for us in the parking lot...." Well, no one waited for us in the parking lot. Thank goodness hehehe.
Anyway, the weekend ended up just as relaxing as I had hoped for. Just a weekend at home. Took the kids to the library, did a little clothes shopping. Tanner twisted his foot on a guitar case and now has had a limp off and on all week. My grass never got mowed, and won't get mowed this weekend either (rain). Nothing exciting.
It was State Test week this week, so was a long week. Tuesday night Tanner had a baseball game. It was one of those "3 Stooges" kind of games. We had 4 guys that didn't show up, 3 of which were our first baseman, pitcher, and short stop. So all the kids were playing in positions they had never been in before. So practically every play was, well, like a 3 Stooges movie! Here is a picture of Tanner playing catcher for the first time. We had a game on Thursday also, against the best team in the age group. They have been stomping most everybody. We did really good against them and had hopes of winning, but the rain came and they called the game.
It’s supposed to storm again this whole weekend, so I’m looking forward to another restful weekend. Rusty and I are going to the Cinco de Mayo celebration at El Sombrero’s tonight, and the kids are gonna visit with Mamaw and Papaw.
Next week is going to be a doozy. I have 2 musical programs to rehearse all week, with both of my 2 least favorite age groups: Kindergarten and 6th graders. Wish me luck, and if I survive it, I'll post another update next Friday!
