Catching up on the blog!

I waited too long again and I'll leave out the little things. But I guess I can at least try to catch up some! Let me start by correcting myself about Dustin and Jacy's shower lol. I incorrectly called it a baby shower last time lmao. SORRY GUYS! I wasn't trying to rush things on you. I knew it was a wedding shower I just inadvertantly called it the WRONG thing. Hope I didn't start any rumors lol.

Ok. In list format I guess:

1. I planted tomatoes. In buckets. Mom says my buckets are too small. My friend Jason who grows them says don't use buckets at all. I've had them now nearly 4 weeks and they're growing well. But I believe I"m gonna have to put them in the ground. I can't afford to go buy bigger buckets. I was trying to get by cheaply, or else it's not cost effective to grow my own tomatoes! So I imagine within the next week I will be putting them in the ground. But right now i"m procrastinating that.

2. It's spring break this week. We had that intercession week and then went back to school for 3 weeks, then ANOTHER week off, which is right now. I"m really liking this new school schedule. It's almost enough to keep me sane. My plans were to go to my office everyday and clean up the huge mess i made when rearranging last week. I didn't. I'll have the same mess when I return, I don't imagine it's going anywhere. I have been mentally exhausted this week for some reason. But I feel myself getting better, the more I sit and do nothing. I simply require large amounts of NOTHING time. And this year has not provided me with much of that. So I haven't been too hard on myself about the condition of the house, etc. I'm only concerned with the condition of me lol.

3. Easter was non-eventful, but I don't mean that in a negative way. I enjoyed it. It was the first year that no one believes in the Easter bunny and the first year we didn't have an egg hunt anywhere. I guess we are graduating into a new stage of life. It's that stage between having nearly grown kids and having grandchildren. I am in NO hurry to reach the grandchildren stage. So I will choose to be happy just as we are. With 2 teenage-ish kids and a somewhat life of our own! The bunny still brought chocolate. The kids saw it when I brought it in on Friday evening. THey begged to get it early. I was gonna let them have it but Rusty put his foot down. He demanded that they wait until Easter morning. So we all went with the flow on that. And Easter morning, around nine or so, Tyler tiptoed in my room and asked if he could get his candy out of the pantry and I said yes lol. Tanner slept in longer. I took Tyler to church and came home and dyed eggs that we didn't hide, but they did get eaten. Brooke had spent the night, but Tanner shared some of his candy with her. We went to visit at Aunt JOni's for awhile and then went to mom's for awhile. It was a nice day. I called my dad on the phone and spoke to almost everyone over there. Looking forward to a trip out there this summer as well as to the lake. I'm getting travel fever. ANd if you don't believe that, just read the NEXT one.......

4. Call it mid-life crisis, call it irresponsibility, call it whatever. I don't care!!!!! God only gives us ONE life to live. And I can live with spending part of it "wishing". But I"m not spending ALL of it wishing!!! I booked a 5 day cruise for my birthday. For 4 people. Me, Rusty, and 2 friends most likely. If the friends can't go, we'll take the kids. But in talking with our other friends and relatives they all wanna cruise in summer of 2010 with full families (Ken & Heather, Kevin & Gina, Cheryl & Mike, etc). So this one this summer is gonna be just us and a couple of adult friends. We will leave out of Mobile on July 18. We will visit Cozumel, Mexico, and some other place on the Yucatan. We will return July 23. I booked it. I don't know yet just how we're going to pay for it all. (As the movie says...."If you book it, they will come..."). But we will pay for it if I have to sell something. I NEED the ocean. Beach is terrific, but I've found that the beach is not neccessary as long as there is miles of ocean. So to heck with it all, we're going sailing. I might be broke as heck til then. But I'm going sailing!!!!!

5. Today is tax day. I'm going to do my taxes this afternoon lol. I've actually already done them. I was just so disgusted with our refund amount that I haven't sent them yet.

6. School is still going well. I've enjoyed all the aftermath from the musical, I still hear about it. People I don't know see me places and tell me they loved it. I've heard people twice now, talking about it out in public without knowing who I was. I have to admit I'm eating it up. It's been a successful year and I am thankful!

7. Steve and Clay have come over a few times to watch bad horror movies. It's been nice having them hanging out again. The kids are enjoying the bad horror movies as well. We have our own little version of "Mystery Science Theatre 3K" going on right here lol. We love to make fun of the movies.

8. This weekend we are going to Texas for Dustin and Jacy's WEDDING. lol. I"m looking forward to the trip and seeing family. I've got 2 ipods loaded up and several audio books burned. We should be set for the drive.

9. Tyler's medicine is still doing an awesome job. I can't wait for him to get his license. THere are so many things he could do then. Our lives change. He can run to Wal Mart, take Tanner places, do this and that, visit friends. He's going to really love that kind of freedom. I'm just excited that we're this near to him having it. He got sick 2 weeks ago and we went to the doctor. He had a horrible sinus infection and his asthma was flared up. She gave him 2 shots and he was better by the next day. But she did go ahead and arrange for us to have our own breathing maching. I'm glad of that. NO more $5000 emergency room breathing treatments! It's nice and portable too. It should provide him with much relief, because his allergies seem to get worse all the time.

10. Both kids had good grades for the 9 weeks. A's, B's, and C's. Tyler is having a much better year than the last 2. Another great thing with the medication. Tanner is still doing well with playing the trumpet and the piano. Tyler's doing well on piano too. He still has his days though, when he doesn't want to play piano, doesn't wanna do anything. But most days he's good.

11. I did auditions for next year's choirs at school. This year I've had 43 kids across 4 choirs. As it stand right now, I'm going to have around 120 across 4 choirs next year! That's awesome! But we won't know the for sure count until school starts. Tyler and Blake made the show choir! I needed some white boys in there and can't seem to make them all understand that it's fun. lol. And there are pretty girls in there, too, which was a good selling point. The girls all want big boys in the show choir so they can lift them up. I had no shortage of girls for show choir at all, and had to turn many away. The TEARS!!!! But I had to scrape to get a full set of boys. It should be a fun year.

I can't think of much that has gone on. We still don't have prom pictures back, I'm waiting anxiously for those. I haven't done much picture taking. The band hasn't played since those 2 weekends. So it's just been kinda life as usual lol.
