Blog Catchup
This is the longest I’ve ever gone with no post, lol. I guess the only way to do it is just make a list of interesting or semi-interesting stuff that’s happened in the last few weeks. Actually, there has been a LOT happened I guess that’s why I have not found the time to post the blog. Anyway, in list form:
1. My neighbor and very good friend died on August 11. Drew’s grandmother Angie. She’s been in the hospital since around March. She had lung cancer years ago and they had gotten rid of it. But it had returned and they were attempting to remove part of her lung, etc, in hopes of getting rid of it again. She just never did recover from the trauma of that surgery I guess. She was buried in GA where she is from, and they had the funeral there also. Her husband has taken it very, very hard and for now has gone to live with relatives in Georgia. Their son, Drew’s dad, is living in their house with his wife and kids now. Which is probably good for Drew. I sure will miss my neighbors though.
2. The band played a show in Greenville on August 10-11. We stayed in a hotel there and pretty much had a good time. It was not the best sound we’ve ever achieved, but the people there didn’t seem to care much. I think by the end of the weekend we were all sick of each other lol. But after a week and half off, we’re all getting excited about getting together to play again.
3. Took the dog back to the vet. They’ve determined he has glaucoma, and it probably came from some kind of eye injury or puncture. He gave us some drops that are supposed to reduce the swelling some, but it hasn’t done much. He said the eye will always be bigger than the other, and it’s doubtful he can see anything much at all out of it. He said the only thing we could do is possibly remove the eye if it ever got just too bad looking. Rusty finally threw the fit he was expected to throw about the dog being in the house all the time. So this week we’ve been leaving him outside with Sky while we go to school. So far he stays there by the house and doesn’t run off. I hope he continues to do so well. Apparently Susan told Tanner last weekend that Smokey was meant to be an outside dog, and that has helped him to agree to leave him out lol.
4. The twins were born! I’ve seen the pictures and they are just gorgeous! I can’t wait to see them in real life. I keep thinking about how tough Brandon and Christie have it with so many babies! Lol. But I bet they are already handling it like pros.
5. My brother in law Mickey went to help his ex-wife move from Arkansas to Idaho. He left last week. He called yesterday and said he was not coming back. He met a girl there and wants to get married and he’s already found a good job there. Wild! Rusty is going to buy the old truck from him that he left here. And he’s also supposed to buy a 1977 Trans Am for $750 from Steve T. Tyler is jumping up and down for the Trans Am.
6. This past Saturday night was the much anticipated Big Girl Slumber Party at my friend Lysa’s house. Me, Terri, Cheryl, Lysa, and Shari got together and drank pina coladas and talked all night til about 3 am. It really was fun. We’re already talking about doing it again down the road. The guys weren’t real crazy about the idea, they didn’t see why we didn’t want them around lol. But they were very cool and let us get together without much fuss.
7. School started without much ado. So far I’m having a pretty darn good year actually. I sure hope and pray that it stays that way. The teacher that used to harass Tyler so much last year about his shirt tail being out is now his English teacher. And she is totally on top of things. She’s already emailed me about his behavior and has already sent him to after school detention once. All over the shirt tail. As ridiculous as we think the shirt tail rule is, we’ve decided we’re going to back her up. One lesson that Tyler needs to learn is that sometimes your opinion simply does not matter – you have to follow rules whether you agree with them or not. He’s been very hard to deal with the last few weeks, and all of it stems from him having to do things he don’t want to do. So we’re hoping to teach him to accept things like that in life. Tyler has had a HARD time getting back into the swing of things at school and even in football. But I think he’s finally starting to shape up a bit. He told me yesterday that he had suddenly realized that if he doesn’t start TRYING, he’s going to FAIL this year lol. I told him thank goodness he realized that in the 2nd week of school instead of like January. Tanner has a really good class this year, thank goodness. It’s a smaller class with less trouble happening.
8. Brooke went back to NC this past weekend. Tanner was terribly depressed about it. They got to spend a good bit of time together this summer though. We never did finish the piñatas, and he insists that we wait for her to do it. So I guess we’ll have some Halloween piñatas maybe lol.
Pat got a go-cart out that he’s had for awhile and got it fixed up for the kids to ride. Tanner is thrilled with it. I went out and watched him ride it on the “go-cart track” that Pat has made in the woods down in the “lower 40” lol. He was so busy showing out for me he crashed it right into a tree and bent the steering thing lol. But they’ve had a blast with it. Don’t know what they’d do without Papaw.
9. We’ve been hanging with Cheryl and Mike a good bit. We’ve been swimming with them a time or two. They even came up to Greenville to see us play, so did Terri and Donnie. We’ve all been having a good time. It’s been nice having some people to hang around with again.
10. We've been going to the gym with Donnie this week. I even talked with James about letting Tanner work out some. He agreed to let him do some things if I'd be RIGHT next to him the entire time, and he can't go off on his own. So he's been eating that up. Feels like a grown up. And it's doing me some good getting back in there too. I guess it's more fun when people go with you.
I know tons of other stuff has happened. Mom's been dealing with test stuff again, hope that all turns out well. The big boys are all busy with football, and games start pretty soon. But, in a nutshell, this is our past 3 weeks I reckon. I hope to get back on schedule with the blog now and make it more interesting and not leave stuff out lol.
